Fort Fairfield – Eric R. Sherwood, 43, passed away Tuesday June 13, 2017 at T16 R5 Square Lake as the result of a tragic boating accident. He was born April 17, 1974 in Fort Fairfield, the son of Robert L. and Sylvia (Jacquard) Sherwood.

He was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School Class of 1993 and served in the U.S. Navy. He had been employed in various capacities over the years including as a truck driver and farm laborer. Eric enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping and fishing.

He was predeceased by his parents; and is survived by three daughters, Roseanna Monson of Suffolk, VA, Amber Sherwood of Fort Fairfield and Hailey Sherwood of New Sweden; one brother, Scott D. Sherwood of Fort Fairfield; four aunts, Diane Sherwood of Fort Fairfield, Annette Murphy, Delores Amero and her husband Rocky, and Marie Smith, all of Nova Scotia; three uncles, Samuel Sherwood and his wife Debbie of Florida, Darrell Sherwood of Fort Fairfield, Charles Jacquard Jr. of Nova Scotia; one nephew, Shane Sherwood of Fort Fairfield.

A graveside service will take place Friday July 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the New Sweden Cemetery. A reception will be held after the service at the Gustoph-Adloph Lutheran Church, New Sweden. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Eric to Maine Warden Service Dive Team, c/o Corporal Mike Joy, 71 Thurrell Road, South Berwick, Maine 03908 to help purchase new dive equipment. Eric’s family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all who helped in the search effort, especially the Maine Warden Service for their outstanding support and diligence during the recovery efforts.
