JEAN L. (SKINNER) DIXON

Fort Fairfield – Jean L. (Skinner) Dixon, 88, passed away Saturday morning, May 20, 2017 at a Caribou nursing facility, following an extended illness. She was born August 13, 1928 in Beaconsfield, New Brunswick, the daughter of Harry and Mildred (McCrea) Wark.

She was a graduate of the Andover, New Brunswick High School Class of 1945. She was married to Jack Skinner on July 29, 1949, and following his death on September 11, 1972, Jean was married to Truman Dixon on May 24, 1982, who predeceased her on October 31, 2002. She had been employed as a sales clerk at Eaton’s Mail Order Catalog Store, Perth-Andover, New Brunswick, Woolco, Caribou and Woolworth in Fort Fairfield. Jean will be remembered by her children for how she lived her life with strength and dignity, which enabled her family to get through her final days. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Jean was predeceased by one daughter, Barbara Skinner; and one son, Jeffrey Skinner; one brother, Allison Wark. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Dana Cloney of Northfield, CT; one stepdaughter, Pamela Ortel and her husband David of Bangor; five grandchildren and spouses, special grandson Scott and Tracy Helstrom of Limestone, Stephen and Caroline Helstrom of Newport News, VA, Vicki and Kevin Lakeman of Fryeburg, Dana Lee Cloney Jr. of Northfield, CT, Eric and Kim Cloney of Bangor; nine great grandchildren; ten great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Val Paquet and her husband Ed of Quispamsis, New Brunswick. Jean’s family wishes to extend their gratitude to Sandra Burtchell, Pauline Jandreau, and nurses and aids of the Caribou Rehab and Nursing Center.

There will be no calling hours. Jean’s wishes were to “Take me up Tobique on a warm and sunny day for burial” which will be conducted at St. Helen’s Anglican Cemetery, Lickford, New Brunswick, on Saturday July 15, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. (Atlantic Standard Time).
