Obituary for Theresa M. True (Levesque)

Theresa M. True (Levesque)
THERESA M. TRUE & WILLIAM M. TRUE JR.
HOULTON & FORT FAIRFIELD

Houlton & Fort Fairfield – Theresa M. True, 81, passed away Friday evening April 28, 2017 in Houlton, followed by her beloved husband William M. True Jr., 86, who passed away Monday morning May 1, 2017, also in Houlton. Theresa was born May 31, 1935 in Drummond, New Brunswick, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Gagnon) Levesque. William was born September 11, 1930 in Limestone, the son of William Sr. and Lenore (Parent) True.

William, a Korean War veteran, met Theresa on a blind date set up by a mutual friend. After a courtship where Theresa’s dad wasn’t too happy with his potential son-in-law, William finally got up the nerve to ask Theresa’s dad for her hand in marriage, which he said “yes” to, and they were united in marriage on November 26, 1955. That night began a sixty-two year love affair. William was a potato farmer, working on many Northern Maine farms. The entire family spent many years harvesting potatoes, and they had a happy and loved filled home. William was an avid gardener, joke and storyteller, fisherman, and you’d often see him chatting around town, but most of all he loved his family. Theresa loved to crochet and knit, but her most rewarding job was taking care of her children. They were hard workers and never shied away from an honest days work. When things were tough they never gave up and stuck together, so it’s not a surprise when upon learning that Theresa took her last breath the love of her life reacted to it by saying “she beat me too it”, passing away himself the very next day with his family present and reaching towards the sky which we like to think was Theresa calling him to her.

They are survived by their children, Dianne True Ouellette of Keegan, Johanne True and her husband Daryl of St. John, New Brunswick, Vincent True of Fort Fairfield, Scott True and his wife Kelli of Hampstead, NH; eleven grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren. Theresa leaves behind a brother and sister-in-law, Mitchell and Dianne Levesque of Drummond, New Brunswick; and William leaves behind three brothers and sisters-in-law, Hermon and Marsha True of Windsor Locks, CT, Gregory “Fred” True and his wife Carolyn of Fort Fairfield, Linwood and Bernice True of Limestone; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to their parents, they were both predeceased by several siblings.

In keeping with William and Theresa’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday May 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main Street, Fort Fairfield, with Fr. Alex Maria Doss celebrant. Interment with military honors will follow at the Northern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Caribou. Those who wish may contribute in memory of William and Theresa to either the Korean War Veterans Association Chapter 292, 58 Chapman Street, Presque Isle, Maine 04769 or to the Friends Helping Friends Food Pantry, P.O. Box 421, Fort Fairfield, Maine 04742. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield.
