Fort Fairfield – Evangeline M. O’Neal, 77, wife of the late Charles P. O’Neal, passed away Friday evening, February 17, 2017 at a Caribou nursing facility, following a brief illness. She was born October 31, 1939 in St. Francis, the daughter of Albert and Elizabeth (Soucy) Harvey.

She attended St. Francis schools and was married to Charles P. O’Neal on May 9, 1957. In addition to being a dedicated homemaker to her family, Evangeline also had been employed as a cook with The Aroostook Medical Centers for over 15 years in both the Fort Fairfield and Presque Isle hospitals. She was also a communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield.

In addition to her parents, Evangeline was predeceased by her husband Charles on June 10, 1999; three brothers, Leon, Joseph and Ronaldo Harvey; six sisters, Louise Ouellette, Cesaire Dubois, Bernadette Dubois, Lenore Dubois, Liza Pisarski and Mary Jane Michaud; one son-in-law, Richard Ayotte. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas P. and Janice O’Neal of Calais; two daughters, Patty Ayotte of Van Buren, Penny Jamison and her husband Mark of San Antonio, TX; one brother, August Harvey of Fort Fairfield; three grandchildren, Brian O’Neal and his wife Kathleen Wallace of Eastport, Kimberly Ayotte of Van Buren, Jessica Woodman and her husband Levi of Pembroke; four great grandchildren, Dylan and Jameson Huestis of Van Buren, Aidan and Daphne Woodman of Pembroke; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, Nancy L. and Philip R. Hathaway of Houlton, Jackie Harvey of Plainville, CT; numerous nieces and nephews including a special niece Emily Johnston of Caribou. She also leaves behind special friends, Cora Stewart and Sandra Thornton, both of Fort Fairfield.

Friends may call Wednesday February 22, 2017 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday February 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church 147 Main Street, Fort Fairfield with Fr. Jean-Paul Labrie celebrant. Spring interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held after the Mass at the VFW Paul Lockhart Post Number 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Evangeline to the Caribou Nursing and Rehab Center, 10 Bernadette Street, Caribou, Maine 04736.
