ADRIENNE KNIGHT BERNARD
FORT FAIRFIELD

Fort Fairfield – Adrienne Knight Bernard, 74, passed away Sunday evening, January 29, 2017 at The Aroostook Medical Center, Presque Isle, after an extended illness surrounded by her family.

She was born January 13, 1943 in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Kenneth and Louise (Lee) Knight. Adrienne was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1961 and continued her education graduating from Northern Maine Vocational Technical Institute, Presque Isle, attaining a degree as a registered nurse. She worked for many years at the Community General Hospital in Fort Fairfield until it’s closing. She then worked at the A.R. Gould Hospital in Presque Isle, and later at the Maine Veterans Home in Caribou. Her final and favorite place of employment was at the Aroostook Home Health Care Agency, where she called on outpatients in their homes. She especially loved the elderly.

In addition to her parents, Kenneth and Louise Knight, Adrienne was also predeceased by her brother, Kenneth R. Knight; and very good friend, Bobbie Nelson whom she considered as family. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, David J. Bernard; her sons, Sean L. Bernard and his wife Joan, Joe L. Bernard and his wife Penny, David Bernard, all of Fort Fairfield; four grandchildren, Noah, John, Jonah and Sare’ Bernard. With Sare’, Adrienne finally got her girl. Adrienne loved her sons and their beautiful wives and grandchildren, and loved when the family got together on special occasions. Like her father before her, she loved the Christmas celebration and decorating the home for this very special time of the year.

In keeping with Adrienne’s wishes, calling hours will be private for the family. The Holy Rosary will be recited Friday February 3, 2017 at 10:15 a.m. at the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main Street, Fort Fairfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie celebrant. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held after the Mass at the Knight of Columbus Hall, 260 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. Interment will take place at the St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield, later in the spring. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Adrienne to the Hope Fund, c/o Parish of the Precious Blood, P.O. Box 625, Caribou, Maine 04736.
