MARY M. LITTLE
PRESQUE ISLE
Presque Isle - Mary McConnell Little, 97, died on Jan 1, 2017 in Presque Isle, ME. She was born on Oct 5, 1919 in Portage Lake, ME to William and Bernice (Randall) McConnell.
She graduated from Caribou High School in 1937 and University of Maine at Orono in 1942. During World War II she operated canning centers in Buckfield, Houlton and Presque Isle. She taught home economics in Buckfield and Presque Isle and kindergarten at Pine St. School in Presque Isle. She served as a leader of Jr. Girl Scouts for many years. She married Edward E Little, Jr., of Bethel, Me on July 8, 1950 and had 2 daughters, Janice Little Scribner, Lutz, FL and Nanci Ellen Little of Presque Isle. She has one granddaughter, Jacqueline M Whittaker of Denver, CO. She retired from teaching in 1983 and she and Ed traveled to many states in the country, including Alaska and Hawaii. They also went to the Virgin Islands. They spent many winters in Largo, FL.
She leaves 2 brothers, William McConnell and James McConnell, both of Presque Isle, and was predeceased by 3 brothers, John, Robert and Peter McConnell.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Central Aroostook Humane Society, 24 Cross St. Presque Isle, Me 04769. At her request, there will be no funeral. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. Online condolences may be expressed at www.gibersondorseyfuneralhome.com
