Presque Isle – Tsugiko Prior, 83, wife of the late Arthur E. Prior, passed away Monday morning, December 26, 2016 at her Presque Isle home, following an extended illness. She was born August 5, 1933 in Hiroshima, Japan the daughter of Nobuyoshi and Kikuyo (Matsuyaki) Yamasaki.

She was a survivor of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima on August 6, 1945 and was married to Arthur E. Prior in 1964. Tsugiko became a resident of Freemont, CA where she resided for thirty years and also resided in St. Mary’s, GA where she lived until moving to Presque Isle in 2014.

She was predeceased by her parents, husband and several siblings. She is survived by three sons, John Prior and his wife Rimiko of Freemont, CA, James Prior and his wife Sherry of Alameda, CA, Keith Prior of Bakersfield, CA; two daughters, Linda Parmelee of Presque Isle, Donna Prior Perry of Hayward, CA; two sisters, Keiko Tomeshima of Japan, Yachi Borden of Chula Vista, CA; ten grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will take place at Irvington Memorial Cemetery in Freemont, CA. those who wish may contribute in memory of Tsugiko to the American Society of Hiroshima and Nagasaki A-Bomb Survivors, 7101 Pelican Drive, Buena Park, CA 90620-1354.
