Fort Fairfield – Greta A. (Emerson) Brayall, 92, wife of the late Sherman J. Brayall, passed away Tuesday evening, December 13, 2016 at a Caribou healthcare facility, following an extended illness. She was born July 30, 1924 in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Freeman and Vera (Emery) Emerson.

She attended Fort Fairfield schools and was a communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield. Greta was married to Sherman J. Brayall on October 24, 1942 and worked for many area farmers over the years in various capacities including working in the fields and potato houses, cooking for the farm crews and supervising the children. She will be remembered as a kind hearted, generous and caring woman, and her cooking and baking, especially her molasses cookies and donuts will never be forgotten.

In addition to her parents and husband, Greta was predeceased by three brothers, Herschel, Harold and Buel Emerson; one sister, Katherine Turner. Although Greta never had children of her own, she loved her several nieces and nephews as her own, especially her special nieces, Vera Rogers and her husband Robert of Nashua, NH, Lynn Hebert of Caribou, and special nephew, Richard Emerson and his wife Koralie of Fort Fairfield, as well as numerous great nieces and great nephews.

Friends may call Monday, December 19, 2016 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main Street, Fort Fairfield with Fr. Jean-Paul Labrie celebrant. Spring interment will take place at the Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held after the Mass at the VFW Paul Lockhart Post Number 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Brayall to the Central Aroostook Humane Society, 26 Cross Street, Presque Isle, Maine 04769.
