Obituary for Gordon W. Hammond

GORDON W. HAMMOND
WESTFIELD

Westfield – Gordon W. Hammond, 79, husband of Suzanne (Gordon) Hammond, passed away Monday morning, December 5, 2016 at his Westfield home, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born April 19, 1937 in Long Island, NY, the son of Edwin and Elouise (Vario) Hammond.

Gordon served in the United States Air Force during the early 1960’s and went on to enjoy a long career in the advertising and graphic arts fields. He was the co-founder of Echo’s Magazine, and was self-employed in the graphic arts industry, operating Barnaby and Plum as well as Noah Graphic Arts. He will be remembered by all who knew him as an accomplished novelist and author.

In addition to his parents, Gordon was predeceased by one son, Kerry Hammond. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Suzanne of Westfield; three children, Christopher Hammond and his wife Janet of Wiki Wachi, FL, Jonah Hammond and his wife Kacey of Westfield, Jacobs Hammond and his wife Lara of Pullman, WA; six grandchildren, Brittany, Christian, Brendan, Chloe, Rett and Fia; one great grandchild, Haley; one sister, Judy Lloyd and her husband William of Conway, NH. He also leaves behind three stepchildren, Jamie York and his wife Melissa of Ludlow, Jessica York and her partner Richard, Margaret York, all of Houlton; one nephew, Matthew Lloyd; as well as seven step grandchildren.

In keeping with Gordon’s wishes, there will be no formal services. Those who wish many contribute in memory of Mr. Hammond to C-A-N-C-E-R, P.O. Box 811, Presque Isle, Maine 04769. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield.
