CHARLOTTE E. MICHAUD HANSON

Fort Fairfield – Charlotte E. Michaud Hanson, 67, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday morning, November 10, 2016 at a Caribou healthcare facility, following an eighteen year battle with cancer. She was born February 1, 1949 in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Lawrence J. and Evelyn C. (Wortman) Michaud.

She was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1968 and went on to further her education at Plus-Gray School of Business, Portland and the University of Maine at Presque Isle where she received a Bachelors of Science in Teaching Degree in 1986. She had been employed in the education sector for many years, teaching at several area elementary schools and retiring from the Fort Street Elementary School in Mars Hill as a special education instructor. Charlotte greatly enjoyed knitting and crocheting; and even more enjoyed giving the creations she made to her friends and family. She always placed others before herself even when she was in need. Her strong faith in our Lord truly saw her through her long struggle with cancer with grace, dignity and sense of humor that was truly a miracle. Charlotte was a dedicated member of the Fort Fairfield Wesleyan Church for many years and also was a member of the Fort Fairfield Ladies Ecumenical Bible Study Group “The Sunflowers”. All who knew Charlotte will miss her positive post on Facebook.

In addition to her parents, Charlotte was predeceased by one sister and brother-in-law, Deanna and Robert McPherson; one niece, Evette McPherson; one great nephew, Tyler Tardy. She is survived by one son, Thomas W. Hanson of Fort Fairfield; one daughter, Stephanie A. Hanson of Van Buren; one brother and sister-in-law, Morris “Sonny” and Paula-Jo Michaud of Fort Fairfield. She also leaves behind her former husband and special friend, Dale T. Hanson of Fort Fairfield; as well as several nieces and nephews; many special friends and her church family.
