FORT FAIRFIELD

Fort Fairfield – Barbara J. Griffeth, 76, passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning, November 5, 2016 at her Fort Fairfield home. She was born May 25, 1940 in Plaster Rock, New Brunswick, the daughter of William and Theta (Bradford) Armstrong.

She attended Tobique Valley High School, Plaster Rock, NB and worked in various capacities over the years including as a cook at Loring Air Force Base, the Fairmount Market, as well as assisting local farmers. Barbara greatly enjoyed bingo, entertaining friends and family, flowers, wrestling, and displaying photos of her family, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by one son, Melvin M. Griffeth on August 2, 1995; one brother, Bud Bradford; two sisters, Joyce Wonder and Betty Dwyer.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael G. and Pamela Griffeth of Gilmanton, NH, Frederick and Elaine Payne of South Tilley, New Brunswick; one daughter and son-in-law, Penny D. and Michael Levesque of Easton; two sisters, Joan Johnson and her husband Maynard of Tilley, NB, Jean Tumbleson of Ontario; four grandchildren, Nate and Maddie Griffeth of Gilmanton, NH, Thomas Payne of Alberta, Michelle Payne of Nova Scotia; several nieces and nephews; and her grand puppy “Sammy”.

Friends may call Wednesday November 9, 2016 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield, where the funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Mark Babin officiating. Private interment will take place at Webster Cemetery, Limestone. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Barbara to the Halfway Home Pet Rescue, P.O.
