Fort Fairfield – Dale O. Jardine, 80, passed away unexpectedly Friday evening, October 14, 2016 at his Fort Fairfield home. He was born June 21, 1936 in Presque Isle, the son of Jasper E. and Dorothy M. (Learnard) Jardine.

He was a graduate of the Washburn High School, Class of 1954 and served in the Maine National Guard for eleven years during the 1950’s and 1960’s. As a young man, Dale worked as a mechanic in Washburn and also had been employed as Volkswagon mechanic in Presque Isle for a number of years. Dale also worked for United Technologies, Pratt and Whitney Aircraft for over thirty-three years, not missing one day of work until his retirement at the age of 70. Dale was married to Elizabeth Hargrove on October 31, 1969 and enjoyed pets, especially his dogs, and gardening.

In addition to his parents, Dale was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth on July 6, 2010. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Murray E. and Erika Jardine of Fort Fairfield; one daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Ronald Boone of Carlingford, New Brunswick; one step-son, Andrew Johnston and his wife Melissa of Dover Foxcroft; and eight grandchildren; one great grandson; his mother-in-law, Christina Hargrove of Andover, New Brunswick; brother-in-law, Donald Hargrove and his wife Jane of Toronto, ONT. ; sister-in-law, Margaret “Peggy” Johnson of Austin, TX.

A private graveside service will be conducted at a later date and time at the Andover New Brunswick Presbyterian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Dale to the Central Aroostook Humane Society, 26 Cross Street, Presque Isle, Maine 04769.
