Obituary for F. Ellsworth "Ike" Morris

LIMESTONE & PRESQUE ISLE

Limestone & Presque Isle – F. Ellsworth, “Ike” Morris, 91, husband of Barbara A. (Russell) Morris, passed away Saturday afternoon, June 25, 2016 at a Presque Isle healthcare facility from complications due to pneumonia. He was born October 16, 1924 on the Morris Farm in Limestone, the first child of Frank B. and Jessie B. (Hill) Morris.

Ike was a graduate of the Limestone High School Class of 1943, and became a well respected potato grower in Limestone, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Limestone United Methodist Church and a dedicated active member of the Limestone Masonic Lodge No. 214 AF & AM since 1948 where he held many positions and was elected seven times as Worshipful Master. Ike also served as the District Deputy Grand Master of the First Masonic District of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Maine in 1981 and 82. Mr. Morris was also a member of several appendant bodies of Free Masonary, including the Anah Temple Shrine, the York Rite and the Scottish Rite. Many of Ike’s fondest memories took place at the Morris Farm where he could enjoy the earth, the trees and the love of his large family during Sunday picnics. In addition to his parents,

Ike was predeceased by one son, Robert Ellsworth Morris; one grandson, Evan Morris; one brother, Coburn Morris; one sister, Betty Russell.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Barbara Morris of Presque Isle; two sons and daughters-in-law, Frank William “Bill” and Paula Morris of North Potomac, MD, Richard Wayne and Laurie Morris of East Granby, CT; one sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Sheldon Lauritsen of Limestone; three grandchildren, Andrew Morris and Melissa of Silver Springs, MD, Olivia and Hayley Morris, both of East Granby, CT; one great granddaughter, Eliana of Silver Springs, MD; one brother-in-law, Tom Russell of California; several nieces and nephews.

The Morris family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Leisure Village, and the Aroostook Medical Center for the exceptional compassionate care given to Mr. Morris during his illness, and a special thank you to Ike’s many special Masonic friends who faithfully visited or called him during his final years.

Friends may call Thursday, June 30, 2016 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield, where an evening Masonic Memorial Service will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. by the officer’s of the Limestone Lodge No. 214. The funeral service will be conducted Friday, July 1, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Limestone United Methodist Church with the Rev. Stephen Dale officiating. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held after the service in the church reception area. Private interment will take place at Advent Cemetery, Limestone.
