Fort Fairfield – Yvonne M. Milliard, 86, passed away Friday morning, June 17, 2016 at a Presque Isle nursing facility, following an extended illness. She was born July 25, 1929 in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Henry Jr. and Berniece (Manter) Milliard.

Yvonne was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School Class of 1947, and attended the Aroostook State Teachers College, Presque Isle. She was a communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield and during her teaching career taught school for over 40 years.

In addition to her parents, Yvonne was predeceased by four brothers, Leoned, John, David and Trefflee Milliard; three sisters, Irene Laborie, Phyllis Mahany and Delina Foster.

She is survived by two sisters, Jeanette Mahany of Sun City, FL, and Lois Ann Shaw of Presque Isle; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Presque Isle Nursing Home for the wonderful care given to Yvonne during her stay.

Friends may call Tuesday June 21, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1:00 p.m. at the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held at the VFW Paul Lockhart Post Number 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield, following the interment service.

Those who wish may contribute in memory of Miss Milliard to the Alzheimer’s Association, Maine Chapter, 383 US Route One, Suite 2C, Scarborough, Maine 04074. Envelopes will be available at both the funeral home and church. Online condolences may be expressed at www.gibersondorseyfuneralhome.com
