Presque Isle & Fort Fairfield – Roger N. York Sr., 72, passed away Tuesday morning, April 19, 2016 at a Presque Isle healthcare facility, following a brief illness. He was born May 10, 1943 in Presque Isle, the son of Acil Sr. and Essie (Sturgeon) York.

He attended Presque Isle schools and had been employed in the logging industry for a number of years and also was a self-employed mechanic.

In addition to his parents, Roger was predeceased by three brothers, Warren, Floyd and Acil York Jr.; two sisters, Sherry York and Leona Case.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Roger Jr. and Laurie York of Fort Fairfield; two daughters, Shelly Ouellette of Fort Fairfield, Tina Hobbs of Lincoln, Nebraska; six brothers and sisters-in-law, Brian and Sue York of Westfield, Rodney Sr. and Patty York, David and Linda York, Vaughn York, all of Presque Isle, Wilmer and Linda York of Fort Fairfield, Dana York of Westfield; two sisters and brother-in-law, Betty Fowler of Milo, Irene and Ronnie LaPointe of Mars Hill; grandchildren, Mindy York, Roger York III and Macy York, Skyler, Ethan, Lukis and Jonis Ouellette, all of Fort Fairfield; numerous nieces and nephews.

Services and interment will be private. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. York to the charity or organization of one’s choice.
