Easton & Rockland – Doris M. Dow, 105, wife of the late Earl Dow, passed away Friday morning, March 4, 2016 at a Bangor nursing facility. She was born January 11, 1911 in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of William and Ruth (Wiggins) Howard.

Doris was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School, attended the Aroostook State Normal School, Presque Isle, Music School in Nova Scotia, and the University of Maine, Orono. She was married to Earl Dow on July 19, 1961 and had been employed as a school teacher for many years at the Pine Tree School, Easton, Gouldville Elementary School, Presque Isle, and while residing in Rockland taught in the Freeport School System. Doris had been a member of the Presque Isle Bethany Baptist Church for many years, the Rockland First Baptist Church for several years, and wintered in St. Petersburg, Florida for a number of years.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dow was predeceased by one sister, Marguerite Foster; and two nephews, William and Philip Foster. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Stephen Foster of Ellsworth, Joan Turner of Easton, and Molly Malcolm of Rockland.

A graveside service will be conducted Friday May 27, 2016 at 10:00 a.m.at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Dow to the Fort Fairfield Public Library, 339 Main Street, Fort Fairfield, Maine 04742.
