Obituary for Roberta N. Thibeau (Sirois)

FORT FAIRFIELD

Fort Fairfield – Roberta N. Thibeau, 79, wife of the late Galen E. Thibeau, passed away Monday morning, April 13, 2015 at a Mars Hill nursing facility. She was born December 11, 1935 in Sainte Anne, New Brunswick, the daughter of Robert and Anita (Thibodeau) Sirois.

She attended Boston College and later received her teaching certificate from the University of Moncton, New Brunswick and had been employed as a schoolteacher for a number of years. Roberta was an avid communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield, and was married to Galen E. Thibeau on May 10, 1964. Roberta will be remembered by her family as an extremely hard worker, who passed her work ethic along to her children. She firmly believed that the family bond was the strongest bond of all. Her grandchildren enjoyed many years of attending the Potato Blossom Parade with their “Grammy Blue”. She was a loving mother, and although she ceased her teaching career to raise her children, she always remained a teacher at heart. Roberta was also an avid reader, and enjoyed walking and staying up to date with current events.

In addition to her parents, Roberta was predeceased by her husband Galen on July 12, 2014. She is survived by two sons, Marc Thibeau and his wife Angela of Stratham, NH, Stephen Thibeau and his wife Susan of Berwick; two daughters, Michele Morrison and her husband Dale of Presque Isle, Gayle Thibeau of Fort Fairfield; one brother, Ronald Sirois of Sainte Anne, New Brunswick; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Edwina and Tom Champlin of Van Buren, Ena and Real Cassista of Grand Falls, New Brunswick; six grandchildren, Timothy Morrison of Houlton, Andrew Morrison of Portland, Melissa Morrison of Boston, MA, Heather Thibeau of Stratham, NH, Arielle Thibeau and Rory Thibeau, both of Berwick; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for family members will take place at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home prior to the service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday April 16, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main Street, Fort Fairfield with Fr. Kyle Doustou celebrant. Interment will take place at the St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield, later in the spring. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Thibeau to the Mars Hill Nursing Home Activities Fund, P.O. Box 410, Mars Hill, Maine 04758. Envelopes will be available at the church.
