Obituary for Wayne E. Theriault


WAYNE E. THERIAULT
LIMESTONE & CARIBOU

Limestone & Caribou – Wayne E. Theriault, 68, passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 25, 2015 at his Caribou residence, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born April 29, 1946 in Fort Fairfield, the son of Eddie and Edwena V. (LaPointe) Theriault.

He was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1966 and was also a graduate of Ricker Classical College where he earned an associates degree in bookkeeping. He served his country during the Vietnam War with the United States Navy from 1966 to 1970. Upon his discharge, Wayne joined the Maine Army National Guard, assigned to the Fort Fairfield 152nd Auxiliary Battery, where he served for over 20 years. He had been employed by the City of Caribou as a police officer, the Town of Limestone as a part-time police officer, and worked a number of years with the United States Civil Service at Loring Air Force Base as a runway foreman in the winter and taught heavy equipment operation during the summer months. Wayne was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion. He volunteered countless hours to his community and area including helping at the Catholic Charities Food Bank and Catholic Charities Children and Family Services.

Wayne was predeceased by his parents, and is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Shane E. and Jenny Theriault of Caribou; one daughter and son-in-law, Kristy and Jeffrey Pickard of Maplewood, New Brunswick; four grandchildren, Zachary and Devon Pickard, both of Maplewood, New Brunswick, Alya and Mia Theriault, both of Caribou; several extended family members and many many friends.

Friends may call Sunday March 29, 2015 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, March 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parish of the Blood, St. Louis Catholic Church, 100 Main Street, Limestone with Fr. Jean-Paul Labrie celebrant. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held after the Mass in the church reception area. Spring interment with military honors will take place at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Limestone. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Theriault to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 75817, Topeka, Kansas 66675 or the Catholic Charities Food Bank, P.O. Box 748, Caribou, Maine 04736. Envelopes will be available at both the funeral home and church.
