Obituary for Doris M. Kinney (Cook)

WESTFIELD & MASARDIS
Westfield & Masardis – Doris M. Kinney, 91, wife of the late Samuel D. Kinney, passed away Thursday afternoon, March 12, 2015 at a Caribou nursing facility, following a brief illness. She was born April 1, 1923 in Chapman, the daughter of Arthur and Jessie (Hudson) Cook.

She attended Masardis schools and was married to Samuel D. Kinney on August 24, 1940. Doris had been a member of the St. Francis American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid card player and enjoyed knitting and crocheting, especially baby hats and sweaters. She was also renowned for her bread and pickles.

In addition to her parents, Doris was predeceased by her husband Samuel on July 24, 1990; one son, David S. Kinney; two grandchildren, Raymond Edward York and Gregory Alan York; as well as several siblings. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Donald Morrell of Hamden, CT, Marie and Norman Hall of Presque Isle; ten grandchildren, Andrew York of North Carolina, Robyn McCoach of Raymond, Alden “Pete” York of New Gloucester, Michael Morrell of Hamden, CT, Vincent “Butch” O’Clair of Presque Isle, Victor O’Clair of New Gloucester, Joel Hall of Presque Isle, Robert Hall of El Mirage, AZ, Heather Stephens of Navarre, FL, Norman Hall III of Presque Isle; eighteen great grandchildren, David Richards of New Haven, CT, Brandy Osterblom of Fort Fairfield, Samuel York of California, April Tinker of Gray, Samantha Raymond of Phoenix, AZ, Madeline York of Texas, Eli York of New Gloucester, Lauren Montiero of Hampden, CT, Darolyn Morrell of New Haven, CT, Dawn Amber Morrell of New London, CT, Kylee O’Clair of Farmington, NH, Jeremy Hall, Angelica McAdam, and Kelsie Burlock, all of Presque Isle, Jenna Apodoca of Albuquerque, NM, Julia and Devyn Stephens, both of Navarre, FL, Robert and Riley Hall of Washburn; four great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members.

A private service will take place at a later date. Interment will take place at Southside Cemetery, Mapleton. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Kinney to C-A-N-C-E-R, P.O.
