FORT FAIRFIELD


Fort Fairfield – J. Ruth Rogers, 95, wife of the late Harold E. Rogers, passed away Tuesday morning, January 13, 2015 at a Presque Isle nursing facility. She was born July 16, 1919 in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of William H. and Margaret (McGinley) McNeil.

She was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1938 and was very proud to have earned her R.N. from St. Joseph’s Hospital Nursing Program at the age of 51. She was married to Harold E. Rogers on October 26, 1939, and had been a communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield, and was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Santa Maria Circle Number 427, Fort Fairfield. Ruth had been employed at the Fort Fairfield Community General Hospital for many years where she served on the Hospital Guild, and also worked for Visiting Nurses of Aroostook prior to her retirement. Ruth greatly enjoyed music, dancing and playing the piano. She will be remembered as a wonderful and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her husband Harold on March 14, 1968; one sister, Viola Diehl, one grandson, Brock Matthew Everett, and one niece, Marie Mason. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Stephen L. and Sara Rogers of Atlanta, GA; one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Ike Everett of Fort Fairfield; three grandsons and wives, Scott and Nina Rogers of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Benjamin and Taryn Everett of Presque Isle, Beau Everett of Fort Fairfield; four great grandchildren, Tyler, Nicholas and Kayla Rogers all of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Brock Everett of Presque Isle.

Friends may call Friday, January 16, 2015 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday January 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main Street, Fort Fairfield with Fr. Kyle Doustou, celebrant. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held after the Mass at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Council Number 1753, 260 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield, later in the spring. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Rogers to the Daughters of Isabella, Santa Maria Circle Number 427, care of Mrs. Brandy Osterblom, 73 Forest Avenue, Fort Fairfield, Maine 04742.
