L. PHILIP FLANAGAN SR.
PRESQUE ISLE & SOUTH PORTLAND


Presque Isle & South Portland – L. Philip Flanagan Sr., 81, passed away Wednesday morning, December 10, 2014 in Caribou. He was born December 3, 1933 in Easton, the son of Harold F. and Alberta C. (Clark) Flanagan.

He attended Easton schools and had been employed as a truck driver for many years, driving for O’Donnell’s Express and Sanborn Trucking. He also owned and operated Flanagan’s Auction Service in South Portland. He was a member of the Presque Isle Elks Lodge B.O.E. # 1954, was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and loved to ride his Harley Davidson, and collected Harley memorabilia. He had been a resident of South Portland for many years and raised his family in Presque Isle. Phil was a good provider, loved his family and enjoyed many summers with his family at their camp at Echo Lake. In addition to his parents, Mr. Flanagan was predeceased by two brothers, Dana and Gary Flanagan.

He is survived by one son, L. Philip “Bubby” Flanagan Jr. and his wife Phyliseta of Portland; one daughter, Carla J. Alexander and her husband Steve of Hampden; four grandchildren and their spouses, Adam and Amy Alexander of Hermon, Janell and Nathaniel Wood of Levant, Jessica Flanagan of South Portland, Christopher Flanagan and fiancé Christina of Florida; eight great grandchildren, Kelsie, Austen, Hunter, Nathaniel IV, Kali, Kole, Riley and Blake; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Saturday, December 13, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield, where the funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 noon with the Rev. Mark Carter officiating. Spring interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Flanagan to the American Heart Association / American Stroke Association, Founders Affiliate, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005.
