Obituary for Marilyn A. Warner (Martin)

MARILYN A. WARNER
FORT FAIRFIELD

Fort Fairfield – Marilyn A. Warner, 71, passed away Tuesday morning, November 18, 2014 at Van Buren nursing facility, following a brief illness. She was born July 20, 1943 in Presque Isle, the daughter of Darrell and Jacqueline “Jackie” (Thomas) Martin.

She attended Presque Isle schools and was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School and the University of Maine at Presque Isle where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in History and Elementary Education. She taught Business Education at the Ashland High School from 1978 to 2001 and had also been employed by the North Maine Woods Association, stationed at Six Mile gate in Garfield for several years. Marilyn enjoyed knitting and crafted many many baby bonnets for the TAMC delivery ward over the years. She also treasured the time spent at the family camp at Portage Lake and cherished every opportunity to be with her family, especially her grand and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Marilyn was predeceased by two sons, infant Ryan Ashby and Darrell James Ashby. She is survived by one daughter, Roberta Doughty of Fort Fairfield; a sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Martin Thompson of Fort Fairfield; four grandchildren, Brianna Fitzgerald and her husband Charles, Morgan and Thomas Doughty, all of Fort Fairfield, Sage Ashby of Mars Hill; two great grandchildren, Liam and Siobhan Fitzgerald, both of Fort Fairfield. She also leaves behind a daughter-in-law, Wendy Ashby of Mars Hill as well as two nephews and their spouses, Marty and Annette Thompson of Fort Fairfield, and Michael and Kelly Thompson of New Smithfield, RI; several great nieces and nephews; one great great nephew.

Friends may call Saturday December 6, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Bethel Baptist Church, corner of Presque Isle and Main Streets, Fort Fairfield, where a service of remembrance to celebrate Marilyn’s life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. with Marty Thompson officiating. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held after the service in the church reception area. Interment will take place in the spring at the Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in Marilyn’s memory to her family, care of Roberta Doughty, 126 Fort Hill Street, Fort Fairfield, Maine 04742.
