Obituary for Leonard T. Jandreau

LEONARD T. JANDREAU
FORT FAIRFIELD

Fort Fairfield – Leonard T. Jandreau, 78, husband of Pauline “Velma” Jandreau, passed away Tuesday morning, September 23, 2014 at a Madawaska nursing facility, following an extended illness. He was born April 9, 1936 in St. Francis, the son of Docite Sr. and Ida (Baker) Jandreau.

He attended St. Francis schools and was married to Pauline V. Blier on July 3, 1956. He was a communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield where he served on the parish council, was a Eucharistic minister, and was an area leader in the Cursillo Movement. He was a 3rd and 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council Number 1753, Fort Fairfield. Leonard enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing the guitar and violin, and had been a member of the “Bubba J. Band”. He also played at area nursing homes.

In addition to his parents, Leonard was predeceased by two sons, Dale and Joseph Jandreau; three brothers, Donald, Huey and Joseph Niles Jandreau. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Pauline V. Jandreau of Fort Fairfield; five sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Suzelle Jandreau of Fort Kent, Terry and Lynn Jandreau of Caribou, Benny and Nancy Jandreau of Fairfield, CA, Jimmy and Suzanne Jandreau of Caribou; Scott and Diane Jandreau of Oak Harbor, WA; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Docite Jr. and Irene Jandreau of St. John Plantation, Franklin and Mary Jandreau of Plymouth, ME, Michael and Marguerite Jandreau of Augusta; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Cozy May and Terrance Hannan of Hermon, Ida Mae and Gerald Charette, Lou Sandy and Robert Boutot, all of Portage Lake, Violet Morenault of Eagle Lake, Elizabeth Albert of Winterville; 15 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. The Jandreau family would like to convey their gratitude to the staff at High View Manor for the wonderful care provided for Leonard during his stay there.

In keeping with Leonard’s wishes there will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main Street, Fort Fairfield with Fr. Jean-Paul Labrie celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will held at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Council Number 1753, 260 Main Street, Fort Fairfield, immediately following the interment service. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Leonard to the Aroostook House of Comfort, P.O. Box 867, Presque Isle, Maine 04769.
