Condolence: Dear Mary, Betty, Matt, Tim, Steve & families,
I am so sorry to hear of your father's passing. He was a great man -- my mom missed him a lot after he moved. I remember him as being a man of few words but a great sense of humor. I clearly remember him sitting in his chair watching some sort of game on TV or him standing in the kitchen or back steps with his hands in his back pockets chuckling about something Mary or one of us had done. He never failed to ask me how I or my parents were doing whenever I saw him. He will be missed. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Condolence: Marilyn and I (Phil Chase) extend our sympathies to Herb's family and friends. Marilyn and Herb were classmates at both FFHS and UMO. Marilyn considered Herb one of the nicest boys (men) that she knew. His children were lucky to have him for their father. We will pray for the repose of his soul.

Condolence: On behalf of the Alumni Board & the entire Brotherhood of Phi Eta Kappa fraternity at UMaine, may I express our heartfelt condolences and sympathy. Herb was one of our many "County Brothers", & he and I had quite a few email "conversations" over the past several years... he was full of stories & history about Phi Eta during his "era", & what a character! We'll miss him.

Condolence: When I was a young man, I was lucky enough to find employment with the state of Maine as the Director of Physical Plant at NMVTI just across town from UMPI. There were many many times when I felt overwhelmed and needed help and knowledge from someone more experienced. Thank God for Herb. He was always there, and never once let me down. All herb ever asked of me in return was that I do the same for those others in our business. No one can know how much Herb meant to me, and how much I personally owed him for the help he was to me in my Physical Plant career.

Condolence: To Betty and the entire Nightingale Family .. sending my condolences on your loss :-( There are no words that truly help at a time such as this , just know that God will definitely show you the way to smiling again. I know this experience will change you forever. Just remember all the good times you shared with your father and all the love he gave you throughout the years. He is not gone. He will live in your heart forever.
