Obituary for Jean D. Reynolds (Dexter)

FORT FAIRFIELD


Fort Fairfield – Jean Dexter Reynolds, 91, wife of the late Kenneth L. Reynolds, Sr., passed away Thursday morning, December 5, 2013 at a Presque Isle nursing facility. She was born July 13, 1922 in Tilley, New Brunswick, the daughter of Warren and Josephine (Hannan) Dexter. Jean was a graduate of the Andover, N.B. High School and went on to further her education at Pond’s Secretarial School Fredericton, N.B.. Jean served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during WWII as a Leading Aircraft Woman, being stationed in several locations including Newfoundland and Calgary, Alberta. She was married to Kenneth L. Reynolds Sr. on November 25, 1947 and worked as a bookkeeper for Reynolds’ Machine Shop, the M.C. Locke Distributing Company, the ARC Potato Sales Company and McGillan Inc., all located in Fort Fairfield. Mrs. Reynolds was very active with the Republican Party, was a longtime communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield, and a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Santa Maria Circle Number 427, Fort Fairfield for many years, where she served as treasurer. She also served as treasurer of the Fort Fairfield Arbor Committee. In addition to her parents, Jean was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Sr. on July 11, 1979; one son, David Reynolds; two brothers, George and Warren Dexter; one sister, Lena Bishop. She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Reynolds Jr. and Jay and Karen Reynolds, all of Fort Fairfield; four daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn and Peter Soucy of Dedham, Patricia and Kevin Regan of Lisbon Falls, Ellen and Robert Breeze, Debra and David Scott, all of Salt Lake City, UT; one sister, Elizabeth Dexter of Fort Fairfield; fifteen grandchildren, Dr. Anne Soucy, Abigail, Lilly and Isabelle Scott, Samantha Smith, Benjamin, Lorraine and Michael Breeze, Sara, David and Robin Regan, Stephanie Petrey, Kelsey, Grace, Nathaniel and Annika Reynolds; one great granddaughter Sawyer Petrey; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Reynolds is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Lori Reynolds of Centerville, UT. Friends may call Sunday, December 8, 2013 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, December 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main Street, Fort Fairfield with Father Raymond Morency, celebrant. Spring interment will take place at the Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held after the Mass at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Council Number 1753, 260 Main Street, Fort Fairfield.
